Dimapur, Jan. 7 (EMN): The dusty and arid landscape of proper Dimapur may soon get a touch of green with the district’s development board considering a tree plantation. A tree plantation programme for the city was one of the matters that were discussed during a recent meeting of the district’s District Planning and Development Board (DPDB).
The first monthly meeting of the DPDB for the district for the year 2019 was conducted on January 7 in the deputy commissioner’s conference hall. The government bulletin DIPR issued updates on Monday informing about the meeting.

Member of the legislative assembly (MLA) for Dimapur-II constituency, Moatoshi Longkumer, was also present in the meeting. He exhorted officers in Dimapur district to work together and work for the betterment of Dimapur city. He suggested to the board members to take up tree plantation in Dimapur. ‘Bring change in Dimapur because it is our city,’ the DIPR quoted him as having said.

The legislator was also said to have advised the board’s members to review the activities of community societies before recommending them to the higher authorities for registration.

Taking note of the MLA’s suggestion to plant trees in Dimapur, deputy commissioner of Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel informed that a committee would be constituted to collaborate with governments departments for said matter. Matters about implementing the plan will be discussed in the next DPDB meeting, the updates stated.

The board’s members also recommended a proposal to promote the government high school of Thahekhu to a higher
secondary school.
