• MOKOKCHUNG — Underdog Dilong defeated Sangtemla 2-0 to win the Mokokchung Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2025, organised by the Marepkong Youth Association at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on Saturday.

• Sangtemla, the favourites, dominated early play and created several chances but failed to score. In the first half, Meyasenba missed a penalty, and two close-range shots hit the goalpost. Despite Sangtemla’s pressure, Dilong’s defence held firm, and the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

• The match remained competitive in the second half, with Sangtemla continuing to push for a goal. Dilong took the lead in the 76th minute when Takotuba outpaced the Sangtemla defenders and scored. As Sangtemla sought an equaliser, Dilong’s defence remained resolute. In the 90+2nd minute, Temsutoshi scored from a rebound off a corner kick, sealing a 2-0 win for Dilong.

• Dilong won INR 50,000, certificates, and the trophy, while Sangtemla received INR 30,000 and certificates.

• Individual awards included Best Discipline Team/Fair Play (Kumlong), Best Coach (Bendangsunep, Dilong), Emerging Player (Longkham, Sungkomen), Highest Scorer (Tarepnungsang, Sungkomen), Best Goalkeeper (Imtisashi, Dilong), and Player of the Tournament (Nungshisashi, Sangtemla).
