Dihoma village hosts 56th annual wrestling meet
KOHIMA — The Dihoma Village Youth and Sports Organisation (DVYSO) organised its 56th wrestling meet at the Dihoma village local ground, on Thursday.
Director of Technical Education, Vipulhou Lhoungu, and chairman of Dihoma Village Council, Thepfuneilhou Yashü, graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively, an update stated.
In the senior category, Khriezovor Yano claimed the championship, followed by Visezhü Lhoungu in second place and Avituo Tsükrü in third.
The three top winners were awarded cash prizes of INR 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000, respectively. A total of 19 wrestlers took part in the senior category.
In the junior category, which featured 11 participants, Meletuo Zhale secured the first position, Vikhotsolie Yano second and Thepfuletuo Theünuo claimed the third spot. The top three cash prizes for the winners in the junior category were 8,000, 6,000, and 4,000, respectively.
The 56th annual wrestling meet showcased sportsmanship, community engagement and the enduring tradition of competition, it stated.
