[dropcap]O[/dropcap]nce again situation has made the cadres of NSCN under S S Khaplang hostile toward the government of India. With this, trouble days have returned in the Naga society after several years of relative peace.
For the Naga society it does not make much difference (when comes to law and order front) the government engaging ceasefire with the rest of the Naga underground outfits when one major party walks away from it. The gun battles will continue to boom. Cases of human rights violation will become rampant once again as the military personnel conduct operations in Naga villages against NSCN-K boys under the ‘famous’ Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).There are strongholds of the NSCN-IM. There are strongholds of the NSCN-K and so are for the GPRN/NSCN, NSCN-Reformation, and NNC/FGN factions. However, these distributions do not mean that there is a complete absence of one outfit in the other stronghold. Given this picture the Naga villagers cannot escape from the brunt of army operations against the NSCN-K cadres under AFSPA.
Indeed such a situation has just begun to unfurl. The repeated attacks on the Assam Rifles in the state capital Kohima few days ago by the suspected NSCN-K cadres have prompted the security force personnel to conduct combing operations in those colonies and their vicinities.
Today, fear psychosis has gripped among the people especially in the strongholds of the NSCN-K.
For some reasons best known to the outfit the NSCN-K has called it quits after 14 years of ceasing to fight against the government of India. Typical of the Narendra Modi regime, the government without making any effort toward clearing the communication gap—if there was any— ‘cancelled’ the ceasefire pact with the NSCN-K to confirm that it has become official there is already hostility between the two parties.
