Dimapur, Feb. 29 (EMN):
Nagaland’s air connectivity is all set to gain another boost, as daily flights from Dibrugarh to Dimapur will commence from April 3. This is following the introduction of flights from Guwahati-Dimapur and Dimapur-Imphal in December 2019.

The director of Dimapur airport, Mughavi Zhimo informed Eastern Mirror that starting April 3, Indigo Airlines would operate daily flights back and forth from Dibrugarh to the commercial hub.

“This is the first time direct flights from Dibrugarh to Dimapur has been initiated,” informed Zhimo and added that it fell under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-Udan.

“Many Nagas travel to Dibrugarh for medical check-ups and there are also many students studying there; this will be very convenient and it will help connect the two cities,” said Zhimo.

The director informed that in order to ‘market the airport’, talks with other airlines to operate from Dimapur is also in the pipeline.

“Once more airlines come, there will be more competition which will lower air ticket costs as well,” maintained Zhimo.

Further, when asked about the cost of the said flight from Dimapur to Dibrugarh, Zhimo said that the cost seemed a “little bit on the higher side.”

“I have requested the higher management of Indigo Airlines to consider rationalising the price,” shared Zhimo.
