SDRF recovers body of 57-year-old man swept away while crossing Dhansiri River in Chümoukedima after extensive search operation
DIMAPUR — The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Chümoukedima, on Sunday recovered the body of a 57-year-old man who drowned while attempting to cross the Dhansiri River at Murise village in Chümoukedima district on July 18. The deceased was identified as Shibu Sen.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, SDRF Rescue Team Commander Havildar Yevuxu Swu said the body was recovered at around 1.30 pm on Sunday after an extensive search operation.
According to Swu, the incident occurred at around 2 pm on Saturday when Sen was crossing the Dhansiri River and was swept away by the strong current.
He added that the SDRF received the distress call only at around 6 pm. Owing to the late hour, the rescue team carried out a preliminary assessment before suspending operations for the day and resuming the search early on Sunday.

The search operation began at around 6.30 am and continued until the body was located and retrieved at approximately 1.30 pm.
Swu informed that the body was handed over to the police for the necessary legal formalities. After the procedures were completed, it was released to the family.
The deceased was a carpenter by profession and a resident of 4th Mile, Diphupar.
