KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 25
Falcon FC, Jalukie ‘B’ downed Abide Club, Kiphire via tie-break to enter the quarterfinal of the ongoing Captain Kenguruse memorial football tournament.
Playing at Kohima Local Ground, Falcon FC overcame Abide Club went for tie-break as both the teams remained in 2-2 draw in the stipulated 80-minutes play and also in the allotted extra time of 15 minutes. The tie-break went in favour of Falcon FC by 5-4.
Earlier, Falcon FC took the first lead through Thiamadai in the 29th minute, while Tatabo scored the second goal in the 34th minute.
Entering the second half, Abide FC fought back determinedly to stay in the game. Moving into the final 10 minutes, Abide FC found a savior in Among as he scored in the 71st minute and also netted the equalizer in the 78th minute to take the match to tie-break. However, Abide FC was left disappointed in the tie-break as one of their spot kick takers failed to find the target.With the victory, Falcon FC will next play against DGP XI in the quarterfinal on November 26.
At Zhadima Ground, Ihoshe FC of Lumami, who earlier downed Barak FC in the first round, continued with their winning momentum to overcome Paper Adax FC by 3-1, while in the second match, Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) blanked Warrior FC by 4-0. Ihoshe FC of Lumami will now play against MDFA in the quarters tomorrow.
At Chiephobozou Ground, Naga FC beat Wokha District team by 5-1, while Deenix FC downed Phek District Sports Association by 3-1 in the second match. With the victory, Naga FC will take on Deenix FC in the quarters on November 26.
At Tsiesema Basa, Vanguard FC Tseminyu blanked Phek Town Youth Football by 4-0 in the first match, while 164 TA Head Hunters of Naga Regiment downed Atoizu United FC. With the victory, Vanguard FC will play against 164 TA Head Hunters of Naga Regiment in the last eight.
