DIMAPUR — The 58th parting social of Dimapur Government College was held on Tuesday at the college auditorium on the theme ‘Scribbling new paths.’
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang as the special guest and Principal of DGC Prof. Sanjay Sharma as guest of honour, the college stated in an update.
The deputy commissioner, in his address, thanked the college administration, faculty and staff for extending cooperation to the district administration at all times, particularly in election-related works and duties.
Sharing his own experiences and struggles, Tinojongshi motivated the youngsters never to give up on their dreams despite setbacks. He encouraged the students to give their very best as they ready themselves to venture out into the world.
The college principal expressed his gratitude to the graduating students for their contributions towards the betterment of the college and for being good role models to the juniors.
Sharma specifically mentioned the drinking water facility, a major contribution of the graduating batch. He also listed the ongoing activities in the college.
Speech on behalf of the graduating students was delivered by Rendemo C Tsanglao, former general secretary of Dimapur Government College Students’ Council (DGCSC). The entire graduating student was presented memorabilia by the juniors. Lengnio C presented a special song while Sholih and Atsavi performed a dance.
Pastor Jack Pucho of The Warehouse Church, Dimapur pronounced a special prayer for the graduating students.
The programme, jointly chaired by Tunatoli Kappo and Musumong, and began with invocation prayer by associate professor Sedevino, who is also advisor of Evangelical Union (EU) DGC. Welcome address was delivered by Tokishe Zhimo, general secretary of DGCSC.
The formal programme culminated with a benediction by Neangmai Konyak, assistant secretary, EU DGC.
The informal session witnessed a variety of performances from the students.
