Deputy election commissioner reviews district poll preparation

Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain on Jan. 16 held series of meeting with election officials, political parties, district administration, and security forces at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Kohima in connection with the forth coming general election. Also a joint review meeting of Wokha and Zunheboto for poll preparedness for the forthcoming Nagaland Assembly Election was held on Jan. 16 at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha. Updates from IPR stated. During the meeting, Deputy Election Commissioner (DEC), Nagaland in-charge Sudeep Jain reviewed works and activities related to the forthcoming election for both the districts. He apprised DC, SP and Returning Officers (ROs) to take their assigned responsibilities very seriously for the smooth conduct of election. He also reminded all ROs on visiting polling stations and to sensitize the public about EVMs and VVPAT. Jain directed areas in concern to update the election commission so that timely action can be initiated. Statutory functions should be mastered by all officials so that no errors are committed, he said. He also reminded that electricity, sanitary and water supply should be made available and arranged in all polling stations. Both the DC and SP of Wokha and Zunheboto apprised activities undertaken and other security arrangements being made to make sure that no untoward election related violence takes place for the smooth functioning and conduct of the forthcoming election. The meeting was attended by CEO Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha; IG Range, Wabang Jamir; DIG, CRPF Sarabijit Singh; DC and SP of Wokha and Zunheboto.
