- KOHIMA — Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) leader Y Patton, on Monday, called upon BJP workers to
strengthen the party and to increase the number of BJP legislators in the state
assembly.
- He was speaking during the 46th foundation day of BJP at the
party headquarters in Kohima.
- Patton maintained that increasing the number of BJP seats in
the Assembly is not impossible if the party karyakartas help. He reminded them
that there will be misunderstandings among them occasionally, but they should
not talk ill of one another.
- “But work together; forgive one another to strengthen the
party,” he said, adding that the strength of the BJP lies within its
organisational structure and not just in its leaders.
- Discipline, commitment and dedication of the workers are the
true pillars of the party, he said.
- The deputy chief minister asked the state BJP leaders to
visit those constituencies where there are no elected BJP members, stating that
the karyakartas working in those constituencies are suffering, and it is the
duty of the party leaders to see how the party is doing in all the
constituencies.
- Further, Patton expressed that foundation day is a very
significant event for the BJP, marking the establishment of a political
movement that has grown stronger over the decades, guided by the principles of
commitment and progress in the service of the people of India.
- He shared that BJP celebrates foundation day on April 6 but
since April 6 fell on a Sunday and Nagaland being a Christian-majority state,
they were celebrating it on Monday (April 7). He expressed gratitude to the
central leaders for letting them celebrate on Monday.
- He also briefed on the history of how BJP came to power in
the Centre from a humble beginning. He maintained that the party was
established on ideals that connect with the core values of a diverse nation,
seeking progress and development for every section of the society.
- Also, Patton said that the Act East Policy of the prime
minister has brought renewed focus towards the development of the Northeast
region and reminded that the PM has visited the NE region 67 times in 10 years.
- BJP legislators Kropol Vitsu, Pangjung Jamir, Kazheto
Kinimi, national vice president M Chuba Ao, and former BJP leaders were also
present in the programme. Earlier, Y Patton hoisted the BJP flag.
