Depts. asked to designate grievance redressal officer

Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): All the administrative or department heads in the state have been requested to comply with the provision mentioned in Section 22 of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

According to an update from the DIPR, departments that have not yet designated grievance redressal cum nodal officer (Disability Affairs) have been asked to do so and ‘intimate action taken report to the Social Welfare department at the earliest so that the compliance report on the matter can be filed in the Supreme Court’.

According to Section 22 of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, “every establishment shall maintain records of the persons with disabilities in relation to the matter of employment, facilities provided and other necessary information in compliance with the provisions of this Chapter in such form and manner as may he prescribed by the Central government.’

It also says that ‘every employment exchange shall maintain records of persons with disabilities seeking employment and the records maintained under sub-section (1) shall be open to inspection at all reasonable hours by such persons as may be authorised on their behalf by the appropriate government’.
