Department of Agriculture Dimapur organises World Food Day

Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): The department of Agriculture, Dimapur organised World Food Day at District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Dimapur Office on the theme “Our action are our future, better production, better nutrition, a better environment and better life” on Saturday.

Speaking on the theme of the occasion, DAO Dimapur L Mhao Lotha stated that starvation is a massive problem in several countries and stressed on the need to create more awareness and combat the problem.

“It seems crazy that we live in a world whereby a large portion of the population can indulge in any sort of food they wish without a second thought while others struggle to put food on the table,” the update quoted Lotha as saying.

Maintaining that the department too should take up more initiative to meet the ever-growing demands for food in the region, he said that it is an “opportunity to recognise the role of farmers, workers and staff who are making sure that food reaches the consumers despite the unprecedented disruptions due to Covid-19”.

Deputy DAO L Moangsanger chaired the programme, while DPD ATMA Avitoli delivered the vote of thanks.
