Department keeping vigil on returnees

Kohima, June 17 (EMN):
Department of Health and Family Welfare is keeping an active surveillance of all the returnees at the quarantine centres as well as those who have completed their institutional quarantine period and are undergoing home quarantine.

State nodal officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP), Dr. Nyan Kikon informed this to media persons during an interaction on Wednesday. He said the department officials are keeping strict surveillance on the returnees.

He stated that surveillance teams at the state and district levels are at work by taking utmost precautions for public safety. He added that many villages and towns have set up their own community quarantine centres and are taking care of the returnees.

Kikon said standard operating procedures (SOP) are maintained during transportation of returnees to quarantine centres till their release. He added that officials are maintaining contact tracing of those returnees, who were tested positive, in every specified manner- primary and secondary contact besides conducting tests on them.

The official further informed that returnees from Chennai special train have tested the highest number of positive cases followed by Gurugram (Haryana) till date.
