Dimapur, August 18 (EMN): ATMA, Akuhaito Block, Zunheboto conducted demonstration on oyster mushroom cultivation and value addition of vegetables on August16 at Philimi village along with Training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
Kaiho ATM and Tovinoli ATM, ATMA Akuhaito block were the resource persons.
Kaiho gave a brief introduction on IPM, emphasising on the benefit of biological method (use of Neem oil and powder) and mechanical method (use of light traps and as such). He said considering the present scenario of farming system in Nagaland farmers should try to minimize the use of chemicals as it have adverse effect in the long run.
Tovinoli deliberated on the benefit of mushroom cultivation and value addition and its contribution in elevating the economic status of the family.
During the training all the participants actively took part in the training session acquiring knowledge on making and preserving vegetables and cultivation procedure of mushroom.
All together 20 farmers from Philimi and Rotomi village attended the programme.
