KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 11
Defending champions Barak FC of Peren cruised to the quarters of the ongoing 21st Classic Tournament held at Kohima Local Ground.
Playing the second match of the day, Barak FC blanked Headwinds FC 4-0. Though they dominated the match proceedings, all the goals came in the second half.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when their captain Tingnyek Konyak got past the keeper, followed by Yami Longbah in the 44thminute.
Kezhose Mathew Khizho scored the third goal for Barak in the 47th minute. Entering the final minutes of the match, Kezhose went on to score his second goal in the 56th minute to take the score line to 4-0.
Earlier, playing the first match Dejavu FC survived a tie-break to overcome Vanguard FC to make it to the last eight. The match headed for tie-break as both the teams were locked in goalless draw till the end of the stipulated time.
With their victory, the defending champions Barak FC will next play against Dejavu FC in the quarterfinal on November 14.
