Former champions Lhomithi Sporting Club Dimapur and Deenix Cricket Club, Mon moved ahead on the third of the 5th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organized by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima at Kohima Local Ground.
Playing the first match Deenix CC (Mon) defeated Kohima Capital by 2 wickets. Kohima Capitals won the toss and elected to bat and set a target of 164/6 in 20 overs with Lhoumegolie scoring highest 61 runs supported by Chinglen’s 26 runs. Shanwang and Raju took two wickets each for Deenix CC.Chasing the target Deenix CC achieved it in 19.4 overs and won by 2 wickets. Vezuta of Kohima Capital took 3 wickets. Man of the match was awarded to Pravin of Deenix for his 38 runs and 1 wicket.
Sudden heavy downpour played spoilsports in the second match, as it had to be decided considering the run rate of the first six overs, wherein former champs Lhomithi SC, Dimapur overpowered Bayavu A, Kohima. Winning the toss Lhomithi SC elected to bat but were all out scoring 148 runs in 19 overs. Chasing the target Bayavu (A) 83/8 in 15.4 when the downpour stopped the game. However, after considering the run-rate of the first six overs, Lhomithi emerged winners. Imtilong of Bayavu A was adjudged man of the match for taking 4 wickets. Subsequently, the third match of the day was postponed to tomorrow.
