Imphal, Sep. 28 (EMN): Health, Information & Public Relations Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh on Wednesday said that a new decision has been taken up towards health benefits for consumers in connection with the legalisation of liquor.
‘The decision is not taken hastily. There will be strict scrutiny on every trade and production of liquor after it is fully implemented in the state,’ said Dr. Sapam Ranjan.
The minister was speaking on the occasion of Rashtriya Poshan Mah, National Nutrition Month, at Phoijing Awang Community Hall in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency on Wednesday.
He said that the role played by Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHA workers in the society needs to be encouraged. Anganwadi workers and helpers work at the grassroot level and help in reaching out the flagship schemes to the outreached.
The minister said that the department of Health, Social Welfare and Education need to join hands and work together for a better and prosperous society while citing that, ‘these trio are interrelated and also complementary to each other’.
Crediting the Anganwadi helpers and workers for the role played towards bringing a better child and maternal health care system, the minister said, ‘we need to focus on the primary level health care service’.
The minister maintained that the government has launched many health care schemes at the state and central level. TB Mukt Bharat is a model example.
He said that the government has also set 2025 as the target for complete elimination of TB disease from the country which is five years ahead of the WHO target.
