DDVFA determined to reclaim past glory
DIMAPUR — After suffering a defeat to Mokokchung district in the final match of the recently concluded 11th Inter-district Veterans Football Tournament held at Chümoukedima from February 26 to the 29th, the Dimapur District Veteran Football Association (DDVFA) is determined to reclaim its past glory in the coming tournaments.
This was conveyed during a thanksgiving programme held at Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) on Thursday evening, which was attended by representatives from different sports disciplines.
Senior advisor of DDVFA and the chief guest of the programme, Bendang Jamir, underscored the importance of discipline in any sporting event. He described the veterans as those who have real love and passion for football.
Besides, Jamir also advised the members to respect the team manager and coach even in the days to come. He further called upon them to have good relations with the teams from neighbouring states.
The team manager, Shiyito Achumi, said that nothing can be achieved without discipline. He reminded that DDVFA never came home empty handed in the past and was looked upon by other districts.
Achumi further called upon the members to inculcate discipline and carry forward the legacy of the past leaders.
Certificates to the team members were given away by the chief guest.
The programme concluded with a thanksgiving prayer said by Imnatoshi Longkumer, associate pastor of Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA).
