DIMAPUR — District-level sensitisation programmes were held at Mount Tiyi College, Wokha, on August 29 and at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari, on September 2.
The programmes were an initiative of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) in collaboration with the skill development committee of Mount Tiyi College and Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari, according to a press release.
During the programme at Mount Tiyi College, Rachano Murry (AC-Skills, NSRLM RD Block, Sanis) gave a PowerPoint presentation on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya – Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).
She highlighted the aims and objectives of DDU-GKY and stated that it is a placement-linked, free training programme under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

Emphasising the importance and benefits of this skills training programme under DDU-GKY, she said that it mainly targets rural youths seeking employment between the ages of 18 and 35.
Expressing concern over the current unemployment rate in the state, she pointed out that through this programme, individuals can gain skills to acquire better employment opportunities and build a sustainable livelihood, ensuring a rewarding and stable future.
Citing examples of many successful candidates who have been trained through this programme and placed with reputed companies both across the country and abroad, she encouraged the participants to take advantage of this training. She assured that all placed candidates are monitored for a year to ensure their benefit and safety.
