DDU GKY migration support centre inaugurated in New Delhi
Karma Zimpa Bhutia inaugurating the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) migration support centre in New Delhi on November 11.

Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) migration support centre established by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) at Nagaland Police transit camp in Dwarka, New Delhi, was formally inaugurated by the joint secretary (skills), Ministry of Rural Development, government of India, Karma Zimpa Bhutia, on November 11.

While congratulating NSRLM, Bhutia encouraged the youth to come out from their comfort zone.

“There will be ups and downs but stick to your goals and do not leave your job on flimsy reasons,” he advised the youth. He asked the youth to take full advantage of the migration support centre, stated an update from NSRLM.

In her welcome address, Imtimenla, joint secretary of Rural Development and NSRLM mission director, stated that it was one of the first migration support centres under DDU-GKY from the North eastern states of India.

Speaking on the importance of the migration support centre, the mission manager (state partnership) of DDU-GKY MoRD, Dhriti Bania, stated that the migration support centre was set up for the safety and welfare of youth working outside the state. He informed that the centre would function as a safe transit facility for accommodation and logistic support to the youth coming for job placements. It would also serve as a facilitation centre during distress situations faced by the youth.

Also speaking at the programme, construction manager of BL Harbert International, Billy Parker, stated that he found Naga boys suitable for the job while looking for English speaking civil helpers. He added that his company has recruited close to 100 DDU-GKY trained Naga boys, who are engaged in building the American embassy in Delhi.

Those who attended the inaugural programme included head of PMA DDU-GKY, Vinay Pandey; officials of project implementing agencies; DDU-GKY trained youth from Nagaland working in Delhi NCR; and parents of DDU-GKY trained candidates.

The state programme manager (skills) of NSRLM, Visakono Sakhrie, chaired the programme, while an invocation prayer was said by the pastor of Naga Christian Fellowship Delhi, Rev. Dr. Ricky Medom and the vote of thanks was delivered by Menuoneituo Chadi, chief operating officer (skills) of NSRLM.
