DDLSA conducts law seminar

Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) conducted legal awareness program at Delhi Public School in Dimapur on August 10.
A press release on Saturday stated that Yanbemo Ngullie, a panel lawyer of DDLSA spoke about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act. The act was formulated in order to effectively address sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children. Ngullie said that the act was enacted in 2012. He explained that there are two offences under the POCSO Act. The first offence is the touching offence, an offence committed by touching someone inappropriately. The second offence is the non-touching offence, an offence caused by showing obscene pictures and pornography.

The press note mentioned that Visheli H Yeptho, also a panel lawyer of DDLSA stressed on anti ragging in the school which is prohibited by law. She highlighted briefly on fundamental rights and duties, and also on the rights of the arrested person.

Another DDLSA’s panel lawyer Rokovitsu spoke about cyber crime stating that misusing of computer and internet was prohibited by law.
Ajongba Imchen, the secretary of DDLSA stated, “We all are a part of nation building; we should know our fundamental rights and duties, to contribute ourselves in building our nation and also know our rights and be a responsible citizen.”
