DIMAPUR SEPTEMBER 6

The Dimapur District GBs’ Association has appealed to the director of School Education Mission Authority-SSA Nagaland to release the funds for construction of GMS/GPS as per the terms and conditions laid down with respective SMC.According to a press release the president of the association, Shikuto Zalipu, the Department -SSA had issued the work order for construction of GMS/GPS, toilets, drinking water etc in October 2012 with a term mentioned in the work order Annexure-III serial No.2, that all the spillover work shall be completed by November 2012 and all the fresh work shall be completed by March, 2013(i.e.. 5 months) and released 25% from the unit cost.
However, the release said due to non-release of further fund, construction was stagnated and could not accomplished as per the terms (i.e.. by March, 2013). After the lapse of 10 months (Aug, 2013) from the 1st installment, the department released 2nd installment some 15% to 20% only from the unit cost. Thus, the total fund released till date sum upto 40%-45%.
It is also stated SMC of respective schools could not progress its management due to the shortage of fund and all the buildings are incomplete which was supposed to complete by March, 2013 as per the order.
Citing on the facts of their survey, it further said almost all the upgraded GPS are running their classes inside the village council hall, community hall, Sunday school building, etc and as such, creating a very difficult environment for the teachers and staffs to implant proper education to the students without proper building and facilities.
In view of the mentioned circumstances, the association has appealed the department to release the balance amount to the educational institute of the Dimapur district in particular and the state in general in order to solve the aforesaid problems faced by the SMC’s of GMS/GPS, teachers and the school going children before the end of this academic session.
