Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): The Dimapur District Football Referee Association (DDFRA) celebrated its silver jubilee (1997-2022) on the theme ‘Unified we succeed’ on Friday at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur.
President of DDFRA, Shiyito Achumi, in his address said the association was formed on October 14, 1997, and that initially the association faced lots of difficulties and struggles.
There were times when the members wanted to quit but for the love of the game and their determination, which have brought them thus far, Achumi said.
Conveying gratitude to everyone for their cooperation, the DDFRA president also asserted “if we want to promote football, then we need to upgrade referees.”
Secretary of Nagaland Football Referee Board, Lhouliebio Khezhie, also appreciated the pioneers led by the president of DDFRA for forming the association.
Khezhie also shared that it is evident that the strength of every association or organisation lies in numbers, and therefore with the tireless effort and contribution of all the members and office bearers, the association is celebrating its silver jubilee.
He further urged the members of DDFRA to embark and uphold the theme of the silver jubilee in true spirit and continue to work together in unity for the betterment and uplift of the association.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer was led by Rev. Vitoshe Swu, senior pastor of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church; invocation by Lujeto Yeptho, pastor of L Hotovi Baptist Church, while Jekheto Achumi, music teacher at Musika School, presented a special song.
