DCs inform printing press

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): Deputy commissioner and district election officer, Mon, K Thavaseelan has informed all printing press in Mon district that printing and publication of election pamphlets, posters etc would be governed by the provisions of Section 127A of the Representation of People Act 1951.
In view of the above provision, all printing press in Mon district have been directed to follow the under mentioned instructions while printing such materials.
(1) No person shall print or publish, or cause to be printed or published, any election pamphlet or poster which does not bear on its face the names and address of the printer and the publisher thereof.
(2) No person shall print or cause to be printed any election pamphlet or poster unless a declaration as to the identity of the publisher thereof, signed by him and attested by two persons to whom he is personally known, is delivered by him to the printer in duplicate, and unless, within a reasonable time after printing of the document, one copy of the declaration is sent by the printer, together with one copy of the document to the office of the deputy commissioner, Mon.
It warned that any violation of the provisions of Section 127A and the directives of the Commission would be seriously viewed and also take stern action on those cases including revocation of licence of the printing press under the relevant laws of the state. Further, the provision of the said section should be strictly observed during the period of assembly elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2018.
In a similar order, deputy commissioner and district election officer, Tuensang, L Jamithung Lotha has directed all the printing press to clearly indicate the name and the address of the printer and publisher in the print line of any election pamphlet, poster and such other materials printed by the press.
He informed that a copy of the printed material and the declaration of the publisher as required under Section 127(2) of the Representative of the People Act, 1951, should be sent to the district election officer. All printing presses in the district are asked to comply with the instruction/guideline.
