Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): In continuation to its earlier notification dated April 22, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has reminded all shops and business establishments not to indulge in hoarding or unfair hike in prices of commodities within its jurisdiction.

In an update the organisation’s president, Akashe K Zhimomi, informed that DCCI, in coordination with the district administration and Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), is trying its best to monitor the market round the clock. It also reminded that DCCI also has its own public grievance cell to take direct complaints from the public and necessary redressal measures.

While relating to some incidents in the market place including the May 16 assault of a shopkeeper, DCCI raised concerns about the safety and welfare of the business community. It felt that such incidents are a result of some unauthorised organisations/ unions or individuals trying to enforce their own diktats on shopkeepers and traders.

In this regard, DCCI has demanded to know whether the district administration has empowered any organisation/ union or individual to conduct checking or raids on shops. It maintained that such actions are illegal and tantamount to overlapping of jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, for grievances related to unfair trade practice, DCCI has requested the public to contact only its officials on phone nos. 9436002945, 9402022222 and 700552678 to avoid confusion or misunderstanding.

Further, DCCI has also expressed concern over enforcement of odd-even traffic systems by the state police on the national highways even on vehicles carrying essential commodities or construction materials. While reminding that such types of vehicles are exempted from traffic restriction as per the government directive, DCCI requested the commissioner of police to look into the matter and issue necessary directives.
