Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has appealed to all the concerned Naga political groups (NPG) to desist from harassing the business community in the form of taxation and monetary demand, while also calling upon the state government to cease the cess on petrol and diesel.

DCCI, in a press statement issued, has alleged rampant increase in taxation and monetary demand. DCCI pointed out that the business community has undergone immense hardships since the past six months.

In this regards, DCCI has urged the organisations and groups not to harass and burden the business community at the present juncture as they are trying to start from scratch following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides, DCCI has expressed strong opposition to the cess on petrol and diesel levied by the state government.

“Despite the cess, the business community has so far not hiked prices of goods and essential commodities. But if the cess is not lifted, the business community will be forced to hike prices as transportation charges have become a heavy burden,” DCCI statement read.

With the nationwide Unlock 4.0 in operation, DCCI has reminded of safety guidelines for shopkeepers/business houses, customers and public alike. It has advised all shop owners to ensure social distancing, insist on wearing masks (both customers and shopkeepers) as well as provide hand sanitisers in their respective shops. DCCI has also directed all shops not to entertain any customer not wearing a mask.

DCCI, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the district administration for giving green signal for reopening of Hong Kong Market, New Market, Hazi Park Market and Millennium Building Market. It assured that the welfare committees of those markets would strictly enforce the laid down guidelines.
