Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has condemned the fatal shooting of a driver of Star Cargo Transport agency by an unidentified assailant on Tuesday near IMC hall in Dimapur. ‘DCCI is disgusted by the fact that the peace that has been prevailing for long has been distributed by this killing and the business community will not remain mute spectators,’ a press update read.
The DCCI conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and assured the family that it stands in solidarity with the family; and DCCI will not rest till the culprits are arrested and befitting punishment is awarded, it said.
The DCCI has also urged the law enforcing agencies and district administration to immediately arrest the culprit, failing which the business community will close down the transport operation in Dimapur, it said.
Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has also condemned the killing of a truck driver Jiten Gogoi, hailing from Dhemaji district of Assam on September 22. The NCD has expressed concern that such a ‘serious crime being committed in the heart of Dimapur town as gruesome and shocking.’ The NCD has asked the law enforcing bodies to ‘leave no stone unturned in arresting the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment to the accused as per the law and bring justice and relief to the bereaved family, and to the denizen of Dimapur to have a peaceful atmosphere.’ The NCD also expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, it added.
