Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Having observed that some villagers have permitted hunting/ poaching/ fishing in areas and around the Community Conserved Area (CCA) and Tizu River, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Shanavas C, has prohibited the same and directed the concerned villagers for strict compliance. In an order, the DC mentioned that the areas falling under the three villages namely Sukhayi, Ghukhuyi and Kivikhu in Zunheboto have been adopted as Community Conserved Area (CCA) to protect and conserve the forest and wildlife and to secure sustainable livelihood through Tizu bio-diversity and livelihood network. The order also stated that hunting/ poaching/ fishing in areas and around the CCA and Tizu river was not only violative of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 but also a threat to the community conservation project and endangered species. He, therefore, directed the villagers not to permit poaching in the bio-diversity area or in the boundary. He also urged the concerned villages not to grant permission to the neighbouring villages. He has further prohibited fishing by using batteries, bombs etc in the river and water bodies adjoining the conservation area. The DC also directed the ADC Satakha to enforce the same.
