Deputy commissioner of Zunheboto directs departments to be on high alert in regard to the upcoming monsoon
DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has directed the district disaster management authority (DDMA), PWD and Medical departments to be on high alert at all time to avoid any loss of life due to landslides and flash floods in the district during monsoon.
The DC stated this during the meeting of Zunheboto district disaster management authority (ZDDMA) held in his office’s conference hall on Wednesday, which was convened to discuss on various issues in regard to the upcoming monsoon, stated a DIPR report.
It stated that the DC also asked the Food and Civil Supplies department and Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) to keep the food stock ready for at least three months to combat any kind of disasters.
Report stated that 30 state disaster response force (SDRF) have been briefed and are ready anytime in case of any disasters or emergencies.
On fire related incident, the DC has asked the officer in-charge Fire and Emergency Services to be on high alert with proper equipments at all time in order to avoid such incident.
The DC also directed the NHIDCL and various contractors to keep the highways pliable at all time especially during the monsoon. He has particularly asked the PWD (R&B) to maintain the intra-district roads namely Coco road, Ghukiye road and Nunumi road so that the public could use those roads during disaster or emergencies.
The DC further requested the Medical department to be on high alert to contain or control contagious water borne infectious diseases like diarrhea, malaria, dengue etc.

Meanwhile, the deputy chief medical officer (CMO) of Zunheboto, Dr. Akaho, informed that the department has always given its best in all situations. He also pointed out certain lapses due to lack of proper equipment. In this regard, he requested the DC to upgrade the equipment at district hospital.
He also reported that there are two ambulances at district hospital, 10 ambulances at subdivision levels, 15 medical doctors and 30 medical officers at sub-divisions and around 200 nurses at block levels.
