Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): The deputy commissioner and chairman of district health society, Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, has encouraged the District Hospital authorities to expand healthcare services in order to increase footfall in the hospital.

Ajit Kumar stated this during the meeting of district health society held in the conference hall of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH) in Wokha town on June 21. He explained that the meeting was called to discuss district health statistics, implementation of various programmes, schemes, projects under medical department, challenges and issues, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Wokha, stated.

On the occasion, the DC has highlighted the scope of village health nutrition day (VHND) to improve healthcare services. He mentioned that convergence of vertical programmes during VHND could be effective in solving many issues faced by the medical department.

A powerpoint presentation on district health status was made by Mhonbeni Ezung, district programme manager, wherein she highlighted on the status of health units, immunisation and service delivery elements.

Dr. Akum Jamir, district nodal officer of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), briefed the attendees on the status of TB activities in the district. He informed on the use of Nikshay Application and monitoring of TB patients in the district.

Highlighting on the status of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna scheme, the deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Zuben Kikon, informed that health insurance cards for more than 15,000 beneficiaries have been generated in the district. He added that the beneficiary identification system drive would be conducted at periphery level to increase the number.

Report stated that powerpoint presentations were also made by Nagaland Health Project, National Tobacco Control Programme, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, National Leprosy Eradication Programme and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Thungbemo Patton, medical superintendent of DMMDH. The meeting was attended by the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Wokha, I Yentinoungbuo; CMO Wokha, Dr. Tumchobeni; programme officers and staff of vertical programmes, medical officers and staff of district programme management unit.
