DC Wokha, Mon among first administrators to be inoculated with Covid vaccine

Dimapur, Feb. 8 (EMN): Vaccination for Covid-19 for the frontline workers of Wokha district began on Feb.8. An update form DIPR informed that three session sites have been identified at SP office, deputy commissioner’s office and home guards and civil defense office for vaccination.

Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha was the first person to be inoculated with the Covid vaccine on the first day. “After taking the vaccine, the DC requested all frontline workers to come forward and take the vaccine as it is safe and has no side effect so far,” it said.

On the first day, 113 frontline workers were vaccinated. District Immunisation Officer, Wokha, Dr. Khelito Zhimomi also informed that all the frontline workers stationed at different blocks wanting to avail the vaccine have been requested to contact the concerned medical officer and area administrative officer for further information.

The vaccination would be carried out Bhandari CHC, 7th NAP hospital and Neepco health care centre at Doyang on Feb. 9.

DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, started the Covishield vaccination drive for the frontline workers on February 8 by being the first administrator to be inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine.

It said that the drive has witnessed 25 sessions of vaccination across the district with each session accommodating 100 beneficiaries. Till date, a total of 617 public healthcare workers from across the district have been administered with the first dose of Covishield vaccine.
