DC Wokha launches Covid vaccine for teenagers

Wokha, Jan. 11 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, launched the Covid-19 vaccination for the age group of 15-18 years during a brief dedication programme held at urban primary health centre (UPHC) in Wokha town on January 11, while Rev. Abemo Jungio, pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, said the invocation and dedicated the vaccines.
Speaking at the launch programme, Orenthung lauded the Indian government in its effort to end the Covid-19 pandemic through constant research in medicines. He also encouraged all the stakeholders and individuals to be responsible and get vaccinated as well as create awareness among the public to get the Covid-19 jab so as to achieve a fully vaccinated district.
With the availability of vaccines for 15-18 years in the state and Wokha district, he urged the headmaster and principal of schools to inform their students and parents to get vaccinated to enable the students to attend normal classes.
Meanwhile, he informed the gathering that the district has not reported any side effects after taking Covid-19 vaccination so far. He also reminded the beneficiaries against fake news and messages but encourage their friends to get vaccinated.
Dr. Zuben Kikon, deputy chief medical officer of Wokha, while delivering the vote of thanks, appreciated the constant support of the deputy commissioner in fighting the pandemic. He further informed that the district would provide vaccination to eligible age groups of 15-18 years every Monday and Tuesday at UPHC and District Hospital Wokha.
