DC Tseminyu issues advisory to contain ASF outbreak

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Rohit Singh has notified that, as per reports from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, there have been cases of mortality of pigs due to outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Kithagha village Tseminyu district.

In an order, the DC invoked Section 6 (1) of the Production and Control of Infection and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009, in order to contain the spread of the disease has been enforce.

According to a DIPR report, the following advisory measures for the containment of the disease are to be enforced:  Restriction of movement of pigs/pork in the infected zone (1km radius of the village), prohibition of slaughter/sale of pigs/pork in the infected zone, close monitoring of the surveillance zone (9 km outside the infected zone) and, proper disposal of dead animals by deep burial or incineration within the infected zone.
