DC Peren urges to uphold democratic traditions

DIMAPUR — Elaborating that voting is a way to express one’s opinion, the deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Peren, Vineet Kumar, called upon the public to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and practice the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections by exercising their franchise wisely and responsibly.

Kumar stated this during the district-level Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme held at Peren town hall on Friday on the theme ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure.’ Kumar, who was the guest of honour of the event, underlined the importance of voting rights and the eligible criteria.

Reminding that the choice is upto an individual in a democracy, he further urged the people to cast their vote for the right candidate. He further assured full effort for the successful conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, stated a DIPR report.

The function began with a welcome address delivered by the ADC and ARO of Peren, Japheth Woch, which was followed with a song title ‘One Vote’ presented by Kekudibe Nza. The programme also featured special awareness messages from district icons namely Miss Peren and SVEEP icon, Kimkhailiu Pamai, and Peren district PWDs icon, Ngaugongbe.

Report stated that the voters pledge was administered by ADC and ARO of Peren, Japheth Woch.

The awareness programme was held to encourage people for enthusiastic participation and vote for the right person during election with free, fair and clean practices.
