DC Peren launches relief distribution for daily wage earners

Dimapur, June 17 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang, launched the relief distribution for daily wage earners at the auditorium hall of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, on Thursday in the presence of ADC Jalukie, NZPO president, ward union and principal of St. Xavier College.

The relief items were arranged and provided by the District Management Authority, Peren, in collaboration with the district administration, a DIPR report stated.

The DC, in his short speech, expressed gratitude to the principal of St. Xavier College for his continuous support during the pandemic.

The launching programme was chaired by EAC Peren, Ehoilung. The youth department of Kenjanglwa Baptist Church has volunteered for packaging the relief items.

Meanwhile, the Medical department, Peren, in collaboration with Social Welfare department, organised an awareness-cum-special vaccination drive for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on June 17 at New Jalukie council hall.

During the programme, the zonal leprosy officer, Dr. Kiholi, gave a brief introduction on the awareness of Covid vaccination for PWDs. She also emphasised on rumours and misinterpretation creating wrong impact among the people.

Report also stated that a short message was delivered by the president of PWDs on why the people with disability should go for vaccination. He also encouraged the people to cooperate with the government during the vaccination drive.

The programme was chaired by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing, while the vote of thanks was proposed by the chairman of New Jalukie Village Council.
