DC Mon, Tuensang revises fare for commercial passenger vehicles

Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K has revised passenger fare as well as the safety protocols for inter-district commercial passenger vehicle to be followed with immediate effect. 

  • Maximum number of passengers for sumo is five and for van is three.
  • The driver/owner of the vehicle should strictly comply with the rates and maximum number of passengers per vehicle. Defaulters will be penalised as per relevant laws. Further, a fine amount of INR 1000 per excess passenger will be realised.
  • The owner/driver must ensure that all Covid-19 safety protocols such as wearing of mask/gloves, use of hand sanitiser, regular disinfection of vehicles are strictly followed.
  • All commercial passenger vehicles should mandatorily maintain a daily log book of all travelers with the following details: name, phone number, complete address and date of travel.

In a similar order, deputy commissioner of Tuensang has notified on the revised rates of inter-district commercial passenger vehicles plying to/from Tuensang. The following mentioned Covid-19 safety guidelines are to be strictly followed by all drivers/passengers:

In all passenger taxi, there should not be more than two persons sitting on the middle and rear row seats. In case of rear seats being along the length of the vehicle, not more than one person should sit on each of the rear seat. In the front row seat, including the driver there should not more than two persons sitting. In any case the passengers should not be more than 50% of the seating capacity. 

  • All local passenger taxi shall maintain a log book of all the passengers with details including contact number.
  • In case of buses, the passengers should sit on alternate seats and there should always be a vacant seat between two adjacent passengers sitting. Further no standing passengers will be allowed to travel.
  • In all passenger vehicles both the driver, attendant and the passengers should wear masks. Further, the driver/attendant should make mandatory provision for hand sanitizers for use by the passengers. Only passengers wearing masks shall be allowed to travel. The Commercial vehicles moving for long distance should be mandatorily cleansed and disinfected before start of every fresh journey with new passengers. Those moving for short distances will also be disinfected regularly by the divers/attendants.

It said that the provisions would be monitored and enforced by a joint team comprising of district

administration, police and DTO. Further, it added that all the guidelines for safe practices in high risk setting to prevent transmission of Covid-19 for commercial passenger vehicles, taxis or buses should be strictly followed.
