Mokokchung DC Ajit Kumar Verma urges political parties to appoint booth level agents for the upcoming electoral roll revision.
MOKOKCHUNG — Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, has urged all recognised political parties in the district to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) for every polling station under each assembly constituency.
In a circular issued on Tuesday, Verma directed the parties to nominate these agents in accordance with instructions from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Kohima.
The circular highlighted the role played by BLAs as authorised representatives of recognised political parties. They assist in verifying electoral details, identifying eligible voters, reporting discrepancies, and ensuring coordination with booth-level officers (BLOs), it stated.
“Active participation of Booth Level Agents contributes significantly to maintaining the transparency and credibility of the electoral roll revision process,” the DC stated.
In view of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Verma called upon all recognised political parties to accord top priority to the appointment of BLAs.
He requested them to submit constituency-wise details of the appointed agents in the prescribed format to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, at the earliest.
