DIMAPUR — In view of the significant damage caused to the bailey bridge located at KM 12 along National Highway 202 between Ungma and Longsa, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Poji, has notified temporary restriction of vehicular movement with immediate effect.

A DIPR report stated that the advisory pertained to the movement of all types of vehicles along the mentioned route, specifically across the bridge.

“Until the concerned department completes the necessary repair works, a complete restriction on the movement of vehicles along the aforementioned route will be enforced. This advisory is issued in the interest of public safety and must be strictly adhered to,” the notification stated.

It cautioned that non-compliance with the advisory would result in penal action in accordance with the relevant sections of the law.

Travelers commuting to and from neighboring districts such as Tuensang, Shamator and Noklak are advised to use the alternative routes from New Sangsomong-Yehemi-Atoizu-Doyang; Mokokchung-Chuchuyimlang-Longmisa-Alisopur-Trongar-NH 202 and Mokokchung-Dikhu-Chare (shortcut).

Additionally, the extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Ongpangkong has been entrusted to coordinate with the concerned departments to ensure strict compliance with the travel advisory.
