DC Mokokchung informs on LVC undertaking

Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): The deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, informed all concerned that Longmisa Village Council (LVC) has made an undertaking declaring that there was no consensus candidate in Longmisa village.

The undertaking was made in the presence of ADC and RO of 24 Angetyongpang AC on February 23. A DIPR report stated that Longmisa Village Council/ Senso Mungdang or any other traditional bodies exercising traditional authority do not endorse any ‘consensus candidate.’

It stated that Longmisa Village Council/ Senso Mungdang or any other traditional bodies exercising traditional authority accept and acknowledged the right of every elector in Longmisa village to participate/ contest/ vote based on free choice.

It stated that Longmisa Village Council being a government body would not indulge in any political activities and remain politically neutral at all times. It added that the village council would not restrict/ debar any political party/ candidate to carry out election campaigns and allow each and every political party/ candidate without any additional conditions other than those prescribed by the concerned RO/ ARO under the relevant section of law.
