DIMAPUR — In view of the ensuing general election to the Lok Sabha 2024 and to ensure a free and fair election in Longleng district, the deputy commissioner (DC) and district electoral officer (DEO), Longleng, has directed all arms licence holders in the district to verify their licences and deposit their arms at the nearest police station with immediate effect.
The DC and DEO has informed that any licence holder who fails to report shall be liable for prosecution under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, along with cancellation of the arms licence.
The verification of licences and deposits of arms/weapons should be completed by 5 pm on March 30, the order stated.
