DC Kohima seeks smooth conducts of Lok Sabha election

DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, has urged the election officials to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Kumar stated this during a coordination meeting with the assistant returning officers, sector officers and sector commanders-cum-demonstration of EVM held in his office on Wednesday.

Speaking in the meeting, the DC has described the sector officers and sector commanders as the most important persons in ensuring smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha election. He has urged them to tie-up with each other for the peaceful conduct of the election, stated a DIPR report.

Besides, he has asked the officials to know their respective jurisdiction and start paying visit to identify if there is any element that might hamper the election process and to work out mechanism to build confidence among the voters.

The DC also requested the officials to make sure that powerline connection, running water, toilets and facilities for the PwDs are in place at the polling stations before the polling process and also asked them to be well equipped with the handling of EVM.

The DC further informed the officials to take the responsibility very seriously and submit the reports time to time to their concerned assistant returning officers and also remarked that no exemption from the duty would be entertained at any cost.

Meanwhile, the district level master trainers (DLMT) including the executive engineer of PWD, Imsunger, and the deputy director of Agriculture, Pikato Jimmo, have highlighted the right way of handling and operating Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).
