DIMAPUR — Following reports on the outbreak of African swine fever cases in multiple locations within Kohima district, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, has issued a restrictive order.
In an order, the DC has designated Sechü Zubza as an infected zone, encompassing a radius of 1 km from the infected premises. Additionally, a surveillance zone has been established, covering a 10 km radius from the infected premises.
The order also stipulated several restrictions including a prohibition on the slaughter of pigs within the designated zones, ban on the import and export of pigs and piglets within the affected areas and transportation of pigs and pork products within the specified locations.
It stated that the restrictions should be strictly adhered to in the identified areas until further notice.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In another statement, DC Kohima has issued a public notice regarding traffic regulations in the city. He stated that the route from Naga Hospital Colony to Tinpati (Census Junction) passing through New Market, Daklane, Naga Bazaar, Kezieke and Pezielitsie would be designated as ‘one-way-down traffic’ between 10 am to 12 noon from Monday to Friday effective from August 28.
It stated that vehicles would only be allowed to travel in the downward direction from Naga Hospital Colony to Tinpati during the specified hours and no vehicles would be permitted to enter from Tinpati to NHAK junction on the specified days and timings.
Vehicles headed towards town from High School are advised to take the standard route: High School-Tinpati-Razhii Point. Light motor vehicles bound for High School and the Nagaland Civil Secretariat area are advised to follow a diversion via box cutting, NHAK junction, and Census Junction, Tinpati.
It stated that the measures have been implemented in the interest of public safety and established following discussions with the regional transport authority and consultation with relevant colony/sector authorities.
