In pursuance to the provisions under Section 159 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Kohima, Shanavas C, has appointed the attestation officers, assistant videographers, and micro observers for casting of postal ballots for absentee voters for 8 Western Angami AC, 9 Kohima Town AC, 10 Northern Angami-1 AC, 11 Northern Angami-II AC, 14 Southern Angami-I AC, and 15 Southern Angami-II AC in the upcoming general election.
The DC informed that all the polling personnel are deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission of India and be subjected to the control, superintendence and discipline of the Election Commission of India.
In this connection, he informed that training/ briefing for all the appointed officials would be held in his office’s conference hall in Kohima on February 16 at 11 am.
The DC has directed all the officials appointed as polling personnel to attend the said training/ briefing without fail. The order further informed that failure to attend the training would invite disciplinary action under relevant provision of the Act.
