DC Kma visits Gariphema village

Dimapur, June 20 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan visited Gariphema village accompanied by a host of other dignitaries on June 18. Lauding the village for its many achievements like first village in India to declare 'Tobacco free', 'Declaration of elimination of violence against women,' and having a unity of 'One church, one administrative council.' Gariphema is a unique village of two tribes namely Angami and Sema. The DC also visited a coffee plantation farm in the village accompanied by the Joint Secretary of Department of Land Resources, ADC Chiephobozou, SDO Civil Chiephobozou and District Land Resources officials and a host of other district officers. The DC lauded Kezhangulie Kire, president GVYO, for taking up coffee nursery at Gariphema and promotion of coffee cultivation at a personal level besides distributing coffee saplings to the villagers through the initiative of the Land Resources Department. The officers also visited the Trinitarian Spot, an open amphitheatre.
