DC Dimapur issues safety guidelines

Dimapur, Sep. 8 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner and chairman of Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan has issued guidelines on safe practices in high risk settings within the district with immediate effect.

Trucks/goods transport vehicles

A DIPR report on Tuesday stated that all the crew of trucks/ goods transport vehicles should be screened for fever by thermal scan at the point of entry. It added that no passenger would be allowed to travel in any of the goods trucks.

It stated that crew members with symptoms such as fever, cough and breathlessness would be subjected to further medical examination.

The guidelines also stated that all crew members should mandatorily wear face masks at all times and frequently wash hands with soap and water or with a sanitiser.

It added that the dhabas and amenity providers at designated places identified by the district administration for truckers/ travellers should provide adequate dining space to ensure minimal contact, social distancing, foot-operated hand washing facilities as well as clean and hygienic toilets/ washrooms.

It stated that all crew members should remain inside the vehicle and not mingle with anyone during loading and unloading of consignment.
On completion of the loading and unloading of consignment, the truck should proceed towards its destination immediately. Local transporters required to stay back should remain under home isolation and observe safety measures.

The report stated that the district task force would facilitate availability of adequate hand washing facilities at all checkpoints.

Commercial vehicles

All commercial vehicles, taxis and autorickshaw operators/ drivers should mandatorily maintain a daily log book of all travellers with details of names, phone number, and date of travel.

It stated that drivers, attendants and the passengers should mandatorily wear masks at all times. It added that no passenger would be allowed to travel without a mask. It added that hand sanitiser should be carried at all times and all passengers must sanitise their hands before boarding.

The driver/ attendant should mandatorily carry appropriate disinfectant and periodically disinfect frequently touched surfaces of the vehicle such as doors and window handles, seats, overhead hand grips, etc.

The vehicle should be washed daily and disinfected periodically. It added that drivers/ attendants should not assemble in groups at bus/ taxi/ auto rickshaw stands. Limitations on the number of passengers would be as per the existing state guidelines for lockdown measures.

The municipal and town council are entrusted to ensure installation of adequate hand-washing facilities with soap and running water or foot-operated alcohol-based hand sanitiser at the bus/ taxi/ auto rickshaw stand and display adequate IEC materials (posters/pamphlets/flex banners).
