Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dimapur has informed all the butchers along National Highway (NH)-29 to slaughter all the animals from Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Modern Abattoir, Old Khatkhati Road, Burma Camp, Dimapur.
DC informed that the DMC has established a unit of Modern Slaughter houses for cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs. In this regard, he said the Supreme Court and MOFPI have also given directive to centralise slaughter of all food animals and implement the Slaughter House Act and prevention of cruelty to animals as mandatory. Therefore, DC has directed all the butchers operating along the NH-29 to take their animals to the authorised Modern Slaughter houses in order to conduct proper ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection of the livestock and meat for safe healthy and hygienic meat for human consumption.
Further, DC notified that the order is for strict compliance and comes into immediate effect.
