DC Dimapur holds meeting with AROs, nodal officers

DIMAPUR — To ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha elections, the deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, on Saturday held a meeting with the assistant returning officers (ARO) and nodal officers and highlighted pertinent issues pertaining to electoral preparations in the district.

Chang informed that he convened the meeting with an aim to streamline the coordination between various administrative bodies and stakeholders involved in the electoral process. He also emphasised the significance of meticulous planning and coordination for ensuring successful conduct of the elections, stated a DIPR report.

It stated that various aspects relating to election management, security arrangements, voter awareness campaigns and logistics were discussed in detail during the meeting.

It added that nodal officers and AROs were briefed on their respective roles and responsibilities for effective execution in the election-related tasks.

Also speaking in the meeting, the assistant election officer (AEO), Toshimongba Longchar, informed that essential services personnel would cast their votes through postal ballots from April 8 to the 10th at the deputy commissioner’s office. He added that a house-to-house voting process would be conducted for the other groups during the same period.

Longchar also informed that electronic voting machines (EVM) commissioning would be held on April 8 and 9 at 9 am at the DC’s office. He also confirmed the activation of a control room for supervising and managing the election proceedings effectively.

He further announced that the third phase training for polling officials from Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima would be held on April 15.

In a move towards ensuring transparency and operational readiness, training on webcasting would be held on April 8, which would be followed with a mock drill on April 9 to identify and address any potential issues before the official voting day.

Report stated that all the assistant returning officers from Dimapur-I, Dimapur-II, and Dimapur- III Assembly Constituencies and nodal officers of various activities were present during the meeting.
