DC Dimapur encourages integrated farming

Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): The deputy commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, Rajesh Soudararajan, has stressed on the need to focus more on Agri and Allied convergence activities in order to achieve the target programmes for the welfare and benefit of farmers.

The DC stated this while addressing a meeting of the Atma governing body held in his office’s conference hall on February 16. The DC, who is also the chairman of Atma governing board, impressed upon the members to create more awareness for establishing integrated farming and expansion of the existing ones to bring more synergy, a DIPR report stated on Tuesday.

While regretting the time wasted due to the pandemic, DC encouraged the members to focus on the ongoing activities in order to compensate the time loss and to carry forward the activities successfully.

It stated that agendas including review of ongoing activities, DAP preparation status were deliberated during the meeting.

Underscoring the importance of kitchen garden for growing variety of organic vegetables, one participant from the farming community suggested creating awareness on kitchen gardening by Atma during the training programmes.

The district agriculture officer, who is also the project director (Atma) and member secretary-cum-treasurer of governing board,  Atoi Sema; governing board members from Agri and Allied sectors; and non official members of the governing board attended the meeting.
