DBCK cultural and sports festival begins
Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): An annual cultural and sports festival week of Don Bosco College Kohima (DNCK) got underway on November 6 on the theme ‘Euphoria’ with Dr. Seyiekhrietuo John, State Programme Officer, AYUSH Mission, Nagaland, as the chief guest of the inaugural function.
The other eminent guests of the ceremony were Fr. CM Joseph, Rector; Fr. Manayil Alexander; and Fr. Salew Peter.
Otoli Yeptho read the scripture, while Fr. Alexandra said the prayer for the ceremony and Fr. Rector welcomed the gathering. There was also hoisting of the college flag which was performed by the chief guest. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by oath taking ceremony which was administered by the convenor of the Euphoria Aveo Sekhamo.
Ajano and Khriebeituo, defending Euphoria marathon race champions, led in the lighting of Euphoria flame. After the torch lighting ceremony, a special song was presented by 3rd semester student Wokharo Kithan.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest narrating an incident during his school days emphasised on the path of being truthful in life. Dr. Lanukumla delivered the vote of thanks to mark the end of the programme.
The college Euphoria will culminate on November 11.
Euphoria provides a platform for the students to showcase their talents. It also provides a platform for the students to feel the sense of participation; a joy of achievement; and a sense of responsibility for their future endeavour.
The first day being sports day was reserved for various athletic events. Cultural day will be observed on November 9 wherein several cultural items would be showcased by the competitors of the various houses. November 10 is the western day, where competitions will be based on western genre. November 11 will be an exhibition day where various competitions such as painting competition, photography competition etc would be conducted.
