[caption id="attachment_203620" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Resource persons and students of Don Bosco College pose for a group photograph during a workshop on ‘language and writing skill’ in the college’s premises.[/caption] Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The literary society of Don Bosco College in Kohima organised a two-day workshop on ‘language and writing skill’ on August 16 and the 17th with the participation of 70 students and teachers. Dr. Imlienla Imchen, assistant professor of the Centre for Tribal Languages and Studies of Nagaland University, talked to the participants about phonetics, organs of speech, and various consonantal and vowel sounds. Imchen laid emphasis on the importance of the uniqueness of language which makes men different from other living beings. She also identified the differences of sounds and tones uttered by diverse tribes in the state as well as on the English they speak to those of the native English speakers. On writing skills, she illustrated on the mechanics of writing, usage of proper punctuations and vocabulary. Dr. Toshimenla, DBCK assistant professor, delivered the welcome address and concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Adenuo Luikham, DBCK assistant professor.
